STEM Initiatives

Westgate Christian School has existed since 1981 to train and encourage young people to grow spiritually and excel academically.

STEM Initiatives

After school Robotics:

Westgate Christian School is very excited to host a robotics club for students ages 9-15, grades 4-8, who attend Westgate Christian School or are members of WCHEA (Westgate Christian Homeschool Education Association).  Students design, build, and program a robot.  They split into small teams throughout the season to develop team building and presentation skills as well as work with the robots.  The club has an in-house competition where they will then explain their design and demonstrate on a table-top playing field.

Students are selected via an application process.

Although the club fee covers a portion of the cost, further funding is needed to secure additional supplies and miscellaneous materials.  If you work for an organization that supports STEM initiatives through financial donations and would be willing to help us with communication, please let us know right away.
John Howell serves as the Robotics Club instructor with assistance from Carol McBride.  Their qualifications are listed below.  Carol McBride will serve as the classroom assistant in addition to completing other administrative tasks.

Recently, the Robotics Team had the opportunity to participate in a Robotics Tournament with Hampton Park Christian School. We thank Dan Wooster, Head of the Robotics Department for HPCS, for hosting the tournament at their school. The young people did an outstanding job in their first tournament ever, with all of our teams winning at least one time and one of our teams placing 2nd in the first tournament and 3rd in the second tournament. We are thankful for a strong presence during this inaugural tournament!
