Middle school is a challenging time for many students as they struggle to understand themselves and their place in the world. Middle school teachers at WCS have a heart for this age group. We emphasize spiritual truths and biblical relationships among peers to promote a healthy transition to the teen years.

Academically, we reinforce learned concepts and guide students in the analysis of these truths. As early as 6th grade, we begin to hone critical thinking skills and teach students to make connections and draw conclusions.

Our middle school program at WCS also focuses on writing as a means to communicate, analyze, and evaluate their thoughts. Students are asked to craft a written response to classwork or homework, which allows them to think ideas through and prepare to communicate with others.

Students engage in core academic subjects while also benefiting from electives and extracurricular enhancements. It’s important for middle school to explore their interests and curiosities as part of self-exploration and discovery. 

As with all other grades, middle schoolers have a daily Bible class. However, unlike in other grades, the class is divided by gender and is led by a teacher of the same gender. This allows for more focused discussion and specific application.
