Understanding Our World

As students transition to the elementary grades, our program focus shifts toward developing a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts. This prepares them for the secondary years, which are geared toward analysis and critical thinking.

Our exciting and age-appropriate elementary program provides students with the right blend of direct instruction and hands-on learning experience critical to these early developmental years.

Students participate in a range of academic subjects while also benefiting from elementary enrichment and extracurricular activities to enhance their education and minister to the whole child.

We continue to foster social and emotional development through the elementary years. A strong foundation for healthy relationships and a biblical self-perception are essential for a smooth launch into the teen years.

Bible class continues to be a daily focus throughout elementary school. Our curriculum emphasizes practical application and an accurate view of God and His character. Students also participate in a weekly elementary chapel with a variety of preachers and speakers.

Elementary Curriculum

We primarily use BJU Press and in our elementary classrooms and Purposeful Design for math.

Reading & Writing

We continue to build on phonics instruction through lower elementary while emphasizing reading comprehension and critical-thinking skills. Upper elementary students are introduced to classical works and develop analytical skills.  Students also practice spelling and become proficient with the writing process and various writing styles.

We build on foundational math skills throughout elementary, challenging students to understand mathematical concepts and processes.  Upper elementary students will develop basic geometry and pre-algebra skills.

Science & History

During the elementary years, we introduce key science and history topics. Our Heritage Studies curriculum emphasizes American history, and our science curriculum explores natures, physics, and the human body through hands-on experiences.

Daily Bible classes encourage scripture memorization and teach Old and New Testament Bible stories with practical application. Upper elementary will also develop research and Bible resource skills like how to use a concordance, cross references, and Bible dictionaries.

Elementary Enrichments

and Extracurricular

K5 through 5th grade students have weekly enrichment classes designed to stimulate their interests beyond academics.  They also have opportunity to participate in sports-related extracurriculars.

Students will continue to develop their vocal skills for choral singing while also enhancing their individual talents and gifts throughout the elementary years. Many of our elementary students participate musically in the South Carolina Association of Christian Schools (SCACS) fine arts competition.

Computer & Library Skills

Students participate in weekly computer and library classes to sharpen their skills in these areas. Proficiency with both mediums equips students for academic success and promotes life skills

Physical Education & Afterschool Sports

Our youth sports leagues provide opportunities for students to engage in a healthy team sport environment. Extracurricular sports in elementary school promote physical activity and teach students how to relate to their peers in a competitive environment.

Weekly elementary art classes engage student creativity and artistic expression through focused lessons. Our gifted teachers guide students in developing their personal talents and instruct in best techniques.
